PADI Advanced Open Water Course
The PADI Advanced Open Water course typically includes 5 dives, each focusing on a different specialty. The course itself doesn't have a fixed number of online lessons. Instead, it involves: - Online theory: You'll complete an online knowledge review to prepare for the dive experiences. This can be done at your own pace and usually takes a few hours. - In-water training: The majority of the course takes place underwater, where you'll practice the skills and techniques related to each specialty. This typically involves 5 dives over 2 days. - You will select 5 chapters from the lessons available - We recommend Peak Performance Buoyancy, Deep Specialty, Underwater Navigation and 2 more electives of your choice. - Your 1st day will be of 3 dives and the 2nd day will be of 2 dives.

Already certified as an Open Water Diver? Are you keen to improve your skills and become a more confident diver? Maybe you would like to dive deeper or learn more about a specific aspect of diving such as wreck diving or underwater photography. Welcome to the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course, designed to help new divers expand their horizons and continue their underwater adventure. The Advanced Open Water Diver course consists of knowledge development through a combination of videos, self-study and instructor briefings, and 5 training dives where you will be introduced to specific skills. This includes 2 mandatory dives (Deep Dive and Underwater Navigation) and 3 electives. Here you can pick from a range of options such as Peak Performance Buoyancy, Wreck Diving, Underwater Naturalist, Search & Recovery, Drift Diving etc. This is a practical course with an emphasis on in water skill development. Throughout the course, your instructor will work with you to make small improvements in your diving such as proper weighting, trim and buoyancy, and provide you with a deeper understanding of dive theory, planning and techniques. And after you complete this course you have the option to continue your education with various PADI Specialty courses. For example, Wreck Diver is a very popular Specialty in Colombo – it teaches you techniques on how to dive and penetrate a wreck safely: topics include advanced trim improvement, dive planning in wrecks, advanced dive skills, etc. Other Specialties include Deep Diver (train to dive up to 40m), Nitrox (learn to dive with gas mixes containing up to 40% oxygen), Peak Performance Buoyancy (refine your buoyancy and trim), Underwater Naturalist (learn more about the marine world) and more.
